Massetino is a red wine from Ornellaia, a wine like few others, the result of a perfect symbiosis between harvesting, winemaking and ageing and attention to the smallest details. With great power it can accompany the rich taste of long cooked meats, such as braised and stewed meats, or the stronger taste of mature cheeses. Concentrated and with immediately perceptible intensity, Masseto immediately shows its peculiarities through a compact and dense blackish ruby red colour. The nose shows great maturity, in the fruity traits that take over releasing notes of plum, cherries and blackberries. Then emerge clear scents of rosemary, earth and clay, together with intriguing and suffused balsamic tones with a spice not redundant but in perfect harmony. Massetino dell'Ornellaia is dense and ample on the palate, with sweet tannins and great firmness. A remarkable acidity prolongs its finish with a pleasant sensation of freshness. This vintage is one of the most particular, with the longest and late harvest in Masseto's history. It is evidence, as it is in its own way every vintage, of the unique union between territory, climate and man's work, the basis of a constant work that elevates Massetino dell'Ornellaia to a prestigious wine, able to compete with the best reds in the world.
