L’ecrù 2018

Ecrù is a Firriato passito, a sweet wine with the enchanting traits of Zibibibbo. Its pairing, by analogy, requires flavours of the same sweetness: excellent with freshly baked apple and sultana strudel, with Catalan cream, mille-feuille with vanilla mousse or with an orange tart accompanied by ice cream. Very exclusive is the combination with foie gras and blue cheeses.

Ecrù has an intense golden yellow colour tending towards amber. It is distinguished by refined aromas of orange blossom honey, candied orange peel, dried figs, dates, peaches in syrup, in perfect harmony with delicate evocations of bay leaf, lemongrass, marjoram, sage, oregano and oriental spices. Its texture is enchanting, its high lineage an expression of the most typical elements of Sicily, such as the warmth of the sun.

Deep marine and fruity nuances enrich the taste experience of this passito; Ecrù is sweet and dynamic, has extraordinary persistence, is suave, graceful and fragrant.

To vinify such a prestigious label, the Firriato cellars use the infusion of dried grapes into the wine, an absolute peculiarity in the sector. 2018 proves to be a very good vintage for Ecrù: enjoy at 14-16 °C.
